Pharmacokinetics

The study of a drug's absorption, distribution, metabolism, and elimination by the body is known as pharmacokinetics. Fluticasone and salmeterol are two drugs included in Advair Diskus. A corticosteroid called fluticasone lowers lung inflammation. Beta-adrenergic agonist salmeterol relaxes the muscles surrounding the airways. Using an inhaler device, both medications are administered orally. After that, the drugs enter the bloodstream via the lungs. The liver breaks them down, and the kidneys eliminate them. Fluticasone has a half-life of approximately 9 hours, while salmeterol has a half-life of approximately 12 hours. This indicates that half of the fluticasone must leave the body after 9 hours and half of the salmeterol must leave the body after 12 hours.
