Description of Differin
What is Differin?
Differin is a topical medication that comes as both a gel and a cream that treats acne vulgaris and other skin conditions.
How does it work?
Differin contains the active ingredient adapalene 0.1% which is a form of vitamin A. Adapalene reduces the growth of keratin skin cells that would normally block pores as seen in the acne vulgaris condition. Adapalene also regulates the turnover of skin cells which contributes to reducing the pores getting clogged.
Is Differin right for me?
Differin is used to treat acne and as a topical treatment and it is a great alternative for those who cannot or do not wish to take oral medications. It reduces the number of whiteheads, blackheads and pustules on the skin so it's an effective treatment for mild to moderate acute acne.
However, Differin may not be suitable if the following applies:
- If you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant
- If you are allergic to Adapalene or any of its ingredients
