Aldara is a medication used to treat genital warts caused by HPV. Aldara is a topical treatment for external and perianal warts.

What is Aldara?

Aldara is a topical cream medication that treats genital warts. 

How does it work?

The Aciclovir tablets work to prevent the growth and spreading of the herpes simplex virus (HSV). The antiviral tablets won't kill the virus but will provide aid to the body's immune system to fight the infection.

Is Aldara suitable for me?

If you're experiencing any symptoms of the herpes virus or a cold sore growth, Aciclovir may be right for you. Consult your physician for the best treatment.

Side Effects

All medications can cause potential side effects, below we have listed some potential side effects, however, these do not always occur.

  • Redness
  • Wearing away of the skin
  • Flakiness
  • Swelling
  • Hardening under the skin
  • Small open sores
  • A crust that forms during healing or small bubbles under the skin
  • Itching
  • Burning sensation
  • Pain in applied areas

 

Dosage

Commonly Used Dosage Guidelines for Aldara.

For the treatment of genital warts.

  • Wash hands before beginning application,
  • One sachet contains enough cream to cover a wart area of 20cm. 
  • Apply a thin layer of clean onto clean and dry wart area and rub gently until the cream vanishes. 
  • Leave cream on for 6 to 10 hours, do not shower or bathe during this time.
  • After 6 to 10 hours, wash the area where the cream was applied with mild soap and water.
