What is Dalacin Cream?
Dalacin Cream is a prescription antibiotic medication used to treat bacterial vaginosis. The cream is inserted into the vagina to provide relief from uncomfortable symptoms. It contains Clindamycin phosphate 2%.

What is Dalacin Cream?
Dalacin Cream is an antibiotic vaginal cream that treats bacterial vaginosis.
How does it work?
The cream is inserted into the vagina where the active ingredient clindamycin phosphate kills the bacteria causing the infection.
Is Dalacin Cream suitable for me?
- Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using this medicine if you have diarrhoea or usually get diarrhoea when you take antibiotics.
- If you develop severe, prolonged or bloody diarrhoea during or after using Dalacin Cream tell your doctor immediately since it may be necessary to interrupt the treatment. This may be a sign of bowel inflammation (pseudomembranous colitis) which can occur following treatment with antibiotics
Side Effects
All medications can cause potential side effects, below we have listed some potential side effects, however, these do not always occur.
- Inflammation of the cervix
- Vaginal thrush and other vaginal infections
- Itching
- Discharge
- Stomach cramps
Dosage
Commonly Used Dosage Guidelines for Dalacin Cream.
- Apply cream to applicator and insert the applicator into the vagina at night, for 7 consecutive nights. The usual dose is for 7 nights, but your doctor may choose to prescribe a shorter course for 3 nights only depending on your symptoms.
- Remove the cap from the tube.Screw one of the disposable plastic applicators supplied on to the tube where the cap has been removed.
- Holding the tube from the bottom, squeeze gently and force the cream into theapplicator.When the plunger stops moving, the applicator is full.Unscrew the applicator and replace the cap on the tube.
- Lie on your back, firmly hold the applicator barrel, and insert gently into the vagina as far as possible without causing discomfort. Still holding the barrel, slowly push the plunger until it stops and all the cream has been expelled.
- Gently withdraw the applicator and dispose it.
- Wash your hands after each use
Dalacin cream may damage latex products. Do not rely on condoms or diaphragms whilst using this medicine.
Warnings & precautions
Dalacin may not be suitable if the following applies:
- You are allergic to Clindaymcin
- You are taking Erythromycin
Please inform the prescriber if you take any other medication as it may affect the way clindamycin works.
