What is Circadin SR (Melatonin)?
Circadin tablets are used to treat jet lag by helping you to regulate your sleep patterns. If you've travelled across time zones, you will likely find it more difficult to get to sleep in your new time zone. Circadin contains melatonin, which is the hormone produced by the body to prepare it for sleep. Melatonin helps to regulate the body clock and natural production is triggered by darkness.
Description
What is Circadin?
Circadin is a medication used to regulate sleep patterns especially after travelling through different time zones. It's most effective when treating jet lag as the active ingredient melatonin signals to your body that it's time to sleep.
How does it work?
Circadin tablets contain the hormone melatonin. Melatonin is released naturally in the body when it gets dark and tells your body that it should be sleeping. When you're travelling, your internal body clock has shifted and the body may not recognise that it's time to sleep. Using Circadin will ensure the body receives melatonin and begins to settle into sleep.
Is Circadin right for me?
Circadin is very useful when you have moved time zones, especially if the sun stays up longer, or goes down earlier compared to your home area. However, it may not be suitable for you if the following applies to you:
- If you have liver or kidney problems
- If you have been told by a doctor that you have intolerance to certain sugars
- If you suffer with any auto-immune disease
The above list is not exhaustive, please consult a doctor before commencing any treatment with Circadin.
