Chlamydia is a very common sexually transmitted disease (STI) that is passed on through unprotected sex. Often the symptoms are not noticeable but can still be spread to partners. The noticeable symptoms usually include pain when urinating, unusual discharge, pain in the stomach or testicles and bleeding after sex and between periods in women.
How is chlamydia treated?
When taken correctly, antibiotics can be more than 95% effective at treating chlamydia. Antibiotics are usually prescribed after a test has confirmed you have chlamydia. The antibiotics prevent the bacteria from reproducing and stop further infection.

Chlamydia Treatment Explained
“Chlamydia treatment is typically done with a course of antibiotics. The most common antibiotic used to treat chlamydia is azithromycin, which is taken as a pill. Other antibiotics that can be used include tetracyclines, erythromycin, and levofloxacin. It is important to take all of the medication prescribed to you even if your symptoms go away. If you stop taking your medication too soon, your infection could come back. Make sure to finish the entire course of antibiotics!”
