Molybdeen is een cofactor voor verschillende menselijke enzymen, waaronder sulfietoxidase, xanthine-oxidase en aldehyde-oxidase. Volgens door de EFSA goedgekeurde claims draagt het bij aan een normaal zwavelaminozuurmetabolisme.
