Dosage

How to apply the eye drops

1. Use soap and water to wash your hands.

2. Take off the bottle's cap and lean backward.

3. Squeeze a solution drop into your eye. Wait at least 5 minutes between each drop if you plan to use more than one.

4. Put the bottle's cap back on and firmly shut the lid.

5. Use a fresh tissue or cloth to wipe away any excess solution from your face.

6. If your doctor instructs you to, repeat these procedures for your other eye.

When using a different eye

Interactions

Other ophthalmic medications like latanoprost (Xalatan) and bimatoprost (Lumigan) should not be combined with travatan.

Additionally, this medication might interact with other drugs like beta blockers, ACE inhibitors, and calcium channel blockers. Before using Travatan, be sure to inform your doctor of all the medications you are taking.

Mechanism of Action

Travatan works by decreasing the amount of fluid produced in the eye. This helps to relieve the pressure in the eye and prevent damage to the optic nerve.

Pharmacokinetics

As soon as travatan is applied topically, it is quickly absorbed into the eye. Within two hours, the eye reaches its peak concentration. The liver breaks down tramadol, which is then eliminated in the urine.
