If your doctor has prescribed Canesten Cream, follow their instructions. If you bought it without a prescription, adhere to these guidelines: Before using, open the tube by turning the cap upside down and pressing it onto the seal. If treating foot infections, wash and dry your feet thoroughly, especially between the toes, before applying the cream. Apply Canesten Cream thinly and evenly to the affected areas two or three times a day, rubbing it in gently. Treatment duration depends on the infection type, typically requiring at least two weeks, but possibly up to four weeks. For athlete's foot, consider using an antifungal powder as well; consult your doctor or pharmacist for recommendations. Symptoms like itching or soreness should improve within a few days, but redness and scaling may take longer. If symptoms persist, consult your doctor. Do not ingest the cream. If swallowed, contact your doctor or the nearest hospital's Accident and Emergency Department immediately. If the cream gets in your eyes or mouth, rinse with water and contact your doctor. If you miss a dose, apply it as soon as you remember and continue your treatment as usual.

Avoid using Canesten Cream for Athlete's Foot if you or your baby (when treating diaper rash) are allergic to clotrimazole or any other ingredients in the cream. This product contains cetostearyl alcohol, which may cause skin irritation such as rash, itching, or redness. Canesten Cream may also decrease the effectiveness of rubber contraceptives like condoms or diaphragms. If applying the cream to the vulva or penis, use alternative contraceptive methods for at least five days after application. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant, consult your doctor or midwife before using Canesten Cream. If you have already consulted them, follow their guidance closely. Treating thrush during pregnancy is important, as it can be transmitted to your baby during birth. If you suspect you have thrush while pregnant, see your doctor.
