Do not chew more than one piece at a time and limit yourself to 25 pieces of 2mg gum per day. The gum releases nicotine to help reduce cravings and smoking urges. For best results, use the "chew and park" method for at least 30 minutes. Chewing for just a few minutes without parking won't effectively relieve cravings. Follow these steps: Chew slowly until the taste is strong, then place the gum between your gum and cheek. Chew again when the taste fades, and park it again when the nicotine taste returns. Repeat for up to 30 minutes.

What strength should you use? At the end of a 3-month program, gradually reduce gum usage until you stop. If you smoke 20 or more cigarettes daily, use the 4mg gum. If you smoke fewer than 20 cigarettes daily, use the 2mg gum. Use the gum for three months, chewing up to 10 pieces of 4mg gum or 20 pieces of 2mg gum per day as needed for cravings.
