Supplement Quality Standards & Certifications
At Welzo, we believe that public trust in healthcare begins with verified expertise and scientific accountability.
Our Expert Verified™ Program ensures that every supplement partner we approve meets the highest standards of safety, efficacy and transparency, as verified by our medical and scientific leadership team.
This policy outlines the comprehensive framework through which Welzo evaluates, verifies, and continuously monitors supplement suppliers before allowing their products to appear on Welzo.
Our Medical Oversight & Governance
The Welzo Expert Verified™ Program is developed and overseen by the Welzo Clinical Board, led by:
Dr Sameer Nakedar, MBBS, MRCGP – Chief Medical Officer, responsible for medical governance, evidence evaluation, and product risk assessment.
Dr Mathilde Mbouck, MD, MSc Occupational Health – Ensures workplace and consumer safety standards across supplier operations.
Dr Jabulani Sidle, MD – Oversees clinical integration of international suppliers and U.S. compliance.
Dr Zeeshan Afzal, PhD, Nutrition Science – Leads nutritional research verification and supplement efficacy reviews.
Dr Blen Tesfu, MD – Supervises ongoing supplier content audits.
Supported by Founder & CEO Adonis Hakkim and the Quality Assurance Lead Thomas Daniel, ensuring operational transparency and data integrity.
Every product and supplier approved under this framework has been reviewed by licensed clinicians or scientists—providing a direct human link between clinical expertise and consumer safety.
Purpose of This Policy
This document defines the mandatory standards for supplement suppliers wishing to join the Welzo Expert Verified™ Program.
Its goal is to protect consumers through scientific validation, ethical sourcing, and transparent regulatory compliance.
Approved partners receive the Expert Verified™ Seal, confirming that their supplements have been:
Audited by Welzo’s medical and quality assurance teams.
Verified against UK, EU and international safety standards.
Tested independently by UKAS-accredited laboratories.
1. Scientific & Clinical Quality Framework
Each supplier must align with the following pillars of quality assurance:
Evidence-Based Formulation: Ingredients must have peer-reviewed scientific support. Welzo references studies from the British Journal of Nutrition and European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) to guide ingredient approval.
Third-Party Validation: Products undergo chemical and microbiological testing at ISO 17025-accredited labs to confirm purity and potency.
Full Traceability: Every raw ingredient and production batch must be documented and traceable.
Ethical & Sustainable Sourcing: Compliance with UK Modern Slavery Act 2015 and EU sustainability frameworks.
Clinical Review: Final approval rests with Welzo’s medical board, including doctors registered with the General Medical Council (GMC).
2. Mandatory Supplier Vetting Process
Before onboarding, each supplier must complete:
Certification & Regulatory Review – proof of GMP, ISO 9001, ISO 22000, and MHRA compliance.
Facility Audit – site inspections may be conducted by Welzo or independent assessors.
Product Testing – third-party verification for heavy metals, contaminants, and active ingredients.
Pharmacist Validation – GPhC-registered pharmacists confirm label accuracy and safe dosage formulations.
Final Approval – signed off by Welzo’s Chief Medical Officer.

Why Certification & Clinical Oversight Matter
A 2024 report from the Office for Health Improvement and Disparities found that over 25 % of online supplement products were either mislabelled or substandard when not third-party tested.
By contrast, Expert Verified™ partners benefit from:
Scientific credibility validated by registered clinicians.
Legal compliance with MHRA, FSA and ISO standards.
Consumer trust through transparency and public documentation.
