What is Bactroban cream?

Bactroban 2% Cream is used to treat skin infections such as folliculitis, furunculosis, and non-bullous impetigo. The cream is an antibiotic treatment that prevents the growth of bacteria and contains the active ingredient mupirocin calcium 2%.

How does it work?

Bactroban cream treats skin infections by preventing bacteria from growing in the affected area. It works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis by interfering with the bacterial RNA, thereby disrupting bacterial proliferation. The antibiotic cream may treat infections of the skin including wounds, lacerations, and small cuts. Bactroban Cream is applied 2 to 3 times daily for up to 10 days depending on the skin's response to the cream. It should only be applied for up to 10 days or as advised by the prescriber.

Is Bactroban 2% Cream right for you?

Bactroban Cream is used to treat skin infections. However, it is not suitable for you if you have;

• hypersensitivity or allergic to ingredients in the medications such as mupirocin calcium.
