How to take

Viscopaste bandage can be applied in two methods:

1. Start at the base of the toes and loosely wrap the bandage around the foot, heel, and leg in a spiral up to just below the knee. Smooth and shape the bandage around the leg after application.

2. Start at the base of the toes and loosely wrap the bandage around the foot and heel. From the ankle, fold the bandage back on itself in a pleat at the front of the leg with each turn, continuing up to just below the knee. Compression bandaging may be applied afterward. Cover the applied Viscopaste with a bandage or dressing to protect clothing.

Welzo is not liable for allergen information. Always follow the directions/ingredients on the product packaging to ensure proper use.

Warnings

Viscopaste should be applied with graduated compression bandaging only after evaluating the patient to rule out arterial disease. A Doppler ultrasound is advised for this assessment. Compression bandaging is not suitable for patients with arterial disease (ABPI < 0.8) and is not recommended for diabetic patients with advanced small vessel disease. Undetected reduced arterial flow can lead to pressure necrosis, amputation, or death. The likelihood of having both arterial and venous disease increases with age. Viscopaste should not be used if there is a known sensitivity or allergy to its ingredients. Leg ulcer patients' skin is prone to sensitization from topical medications, including preservatives. Sensitization should be considered if the surrounding skin worsens, and such cases should be referred for specialist diagnosis, including patch testing. Occlusive bandages enhance absorption, so caution is needed when applying topical steroids, anesthetics, or retinoids under the bandage, as their absorption may increase. This can shorten the effect duration of a topical anesthetic and raise the risk of sensitization to these products.

I was at at point where I didn’t know what to do with my eczema. It was burning, itching, and weeping all the time. I’ve been wrapping it for about two weeks now and it’s so much better. So I’ll be continuing with the bandages until it’s good enough for me to not need them.
