The Qvar Easi-Breathe Inhaler is a twice-daily asthma preventer that can prevent asthma attacks. This medication contains a corticosteroid that has an anti-inflammatory effect on the airways to reduce and treat asthma symptoms.

Asthma and Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) are breathing conditions that primarily affect the lungs and can cause a range of breathing difficulties. Asthma often occurs after exposure to a trigger, however, it can happen randomly. Triggers may include common allergies to pollen or animal dander, infections, environmental changes or from exercise.
Qvar Easi-Breathe is a preventer inhaler for symptoms of mild, moderate or severe asthma in patients who require regular treatment. If you require a daily preventer inhaler, the Qvar Easi-Breathe Inhaler may be suitable for you.
What is Qvar Easi-Breathe and how does it work?
Qvar Easi-Breathe contains beclometasone dipropionate, which is a corticosteroid that reduces swelling and inflammation in the lungs to make breathing easier. This inhaler does not give immediate relief but can be used to prevent the irritation, swelling and inflammation that causes sudden asthma attacks.
Is Qvar Easi-Breathe right for me?
If you are diagnosed with asthma, COPD or other breathing condition, you may be prescribed Qvar Easi-Breathe by a doctor or healthcare professional. However, it may not be suitable for you if you have the following:
- If you are allergic to beclometasone dipropionate or any other ingredients in this medicine
- If you are suffering from tuberculosis now or in the past
- If you have to avoid alcohol for any reason
- If you are taking disulfiram or metronidazole
How to use Qvar Easi-Breathe?
Always use Qvar Easi-Breathe exactly as prescribed by your doctor or advised by the pharmacist. The recommended starting dose for adults to prevent asthma is one puff (50mcg) twice daily, however, in presence of other factors, this may be increased or decreased accordingly as per the prescriber's clinical judgement.
Qvar Easi-Breathe 50 microgram Inhaler for adults:
- To prevent mild asthma - one puff twice daily
- To prevent moderate asthma - two puffs twice a day
- To prevent eve severe asthma - four puffs twice a day
- The maximum dose is 16 puffs a day (24 hours)
Instructions:
- Hold the inhaler upright and open it by folding the cap
- Breathe out normally as far as you comfortably can. then hold the mouthpiece between your lips, making sure that your hand is not blocking the airholes
- Breathe in steadily and deeply through the mouthpiece, don't stop breathing when the inhaler puffs the dose into your mouth
- Carry on until you have taken a deep breath
- Take the inhaler out of your mouth and hold your breath for 10 seconds, or for as long as you comfortably can
- Then breathe out slowly
Do not use your inhaler more often than the doctor told you to.
Side Effects
All medications can cause potential side effects, below we have listed some potential side effects of QvarEasi-Breathe. However, these do not always occur and are mostly mild in nature. But if you experience any prolonged or worrying side effects of Qvar Easi-Breathe, please discontinue the medication immediately and consult your doctor.
Common side effects include:
- Hoarseness
- Difficulty in swallowing accompanied by earache and swollen glands, sore throat (pharyngitis)
- Sore mouth or thrush (white spots in mouth and throat). These are less likely if you rinse your mouth out with water after using your inhaler. If you get thrush, talk to your doctor who may recommend a medicine to treat you
- Change in taste

Qvar Easi-Breathe may not be safe if taken with other medication or recreational drugs. Please inform the prescriber if you are taking any of the listed medications.
DO NOT use Qvar Easi-Breathe:
