It is used to treat indigestion and acid reflux. It provides immediate and long-lasting relief from the pain and discomfort caused by heartburn and gas problems like bloating and belching. It also helps to alleviate acidity symptoms such as abdominal pain and stomach discomfort. It is known to work in the body by neutralising stomach acid.

It contains calcium carbonate, sodium alginate, and sodium bicarbonate. Sodium alginate reacts with stomach acid to form a thick gel-like layer. To protect the oesophagus from acid exposure, these gum-like substances (insoluble compounds) float on the gastric fluids.
Simply put, they act as a barrier, reducing the effect of the acid on the stomach and providing relief from the symptoms.

Calcium carbonate and sodium bicarbonate also react with stomach acid, releasing carbon dioxide bubbles.
