What is Otovent Glue Ear Treatment?

DESCRIPTION

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) advises using otovent as a therapy during the active observation period, sometimes referred to as "watchful waiting." The procedure is practical and increases the likelihood of a quicker recovery from glue ear. Otovent also assists in a 50% reduction in referrals for grommet surgery and is the only clinically proven non-invasive glue ear treatment.

The only clinically successful, drug-free, and non-surgical treatment for glue ear or Otitis Media with Effusion is the Otovent autoinflation device. Additionally, it balances middle ear pressure for use during flights or as a visual assistance for equalising, a crucial Scuba Diving technique.

Benefits of using Otovent:

Opens the eustachian canals, letting the middle ear fluid associated with glue ear to safely drain from the middle ear, reducing the symptoms of glue ear.
the patient's quality of life is enhanced.
Aids in preventing hearing loss and learning disabilities brought on by glue ear.

How to take

For adults and children aged 3 and older, adult supervision is required when treating children. Initially, use Otovent at least three times daily (morning, noon, evening). After one week, reduce usage to at least twice daily (morning and evening). The typical treatment period is 2-3 weeks, after which a doctor should evaluate whether to continue. Each balloon can be inflated up to 20 times. Attach the balloon to the nose piece. Hold the round part of the nose piece against your right nostril with your right hand. Close your left nostril with your left hand. Inhale deeply, close your mouth, and inflate the balloon to the size of a grapefruit by blowing through your right nostril. Repeat with your left nostril. Some may feel ear discomfort or dizziness during inflation, which should lessen with subsequent inflations and indicates the procedure is effective. If no sensation is felt in the ear, keep the balloon inflated, mouth closed, and nose piece against your nostril, and perform swallowing maneuvers (do not swallow the balloon air). Repeat with your left nostril.

Welzo is not liable for allergen information. Always follow the directions/ingredients on the product packaging to ensure proper use.

Warnings

The balloons contain latex. If you are allergic to latex, consult your doctor before use. If allergic symptoms occur, stop use and consult your doctor. Keep away from children. Adult supervision is required when children use this product. Do not use toy balloons for the Otovent method, as they do not provide the correct inflation pressure and may lead to treatment failure. Some individuals may experience frequent anterior nosebleeds, which are bothersome but not harmful. Activities like nose-picking, nose-blowing, or balloon inflation may trigger nosebleeds. This condition can usually be treated by an ENT doctor.
