Gina is approved to treat vaginal atrophy caused by ooestrogen deficiency in postmenopausal women aged 50 and up who have not had a period in at least a year.

Gina is a vaginal ooestrogen therapy that is slowly released into the vagina. Gina treats and relieves menopausal vaginal symptoms such as dryness, soreness, itching, and burning.

Ingredients:
Estradiol 10 micrograms is the active ingredient (as estradiol hemihydrate). 10 micrograms estradiol are contained in each vaginal tablet (as estradiol hemihydrate).

The following ingredients are also present: hypromellose, lactose monohydrate, maize starch, and magnesium stearate.

The film coating contains the following ingredients: hypromellose and macrogol 6000.

How much to use:

For the first two weeks of treatment, take one vaginal tablet per day.
Use one vaginal tablet twice a week as a maintenance dose. Allow 3 to 4 days between doses.

Gina is intended for vaginal use only. Each tablet is provided in a single-use applicator. Using intravaginal applicators may occasionally cause minor injury to the vagina, particularly if not inserted or removed carefully or if vaginal atrophy is severe. Consult your doctor or pharmacist if you encounter any issues with the applicator, as an alternative vaginal estrogen preparation may be more appropriate. Dosage instructions: Initial dose: Use one vaginal tablet daily for the first 2 weeks. Maintenance dose: Use one vaginal tablet twice a week, with a 3 or 4-day interval between doses. It can be used at any time of day, but try to use it consistently at the same time for each application.

Discontinue use and seek immediate medical advice if you encounter any of the following during treatment: development of conditions mentioned in the 'Do not use Gina' section, new vaginal bleeding, spotting, or itching, recurrence of endometriosis symptoms, or signs of angioedema such as swelling of the face, tongue, or throat, difficulty swallowing, or hives with breathing difficulties. Additionally, seek medical advice if you notice any of the following: yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice), which may indicate liver disease, a significant increase in blood pressure (symptoms may include headache, fatigue, dizziness), migraine-like headaches occurring for the first time, or if you become pregnant. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember, but do not take a double dose to compensate for the missed one.
