Product Description

Niquitin Minis 4mg Mint Lozenges is a type of nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) product used to help people quit smoking. The product comes in the form of small, fast-dissolving lozenges that contain 4mg of nicotine. When placed in the mouth, the lozenges release nicotine, which is absorbed into the bloodstream through the lining of the mouth. This can help to reduce cravings and withdrawal symptoms that occur when someone stops smoking.

How to Use:

Put a lozenge in your mouth and allow it to dissolve
Don't chew or swallow the lozenge.
Use up to 15 lozenges per day.
Gradually reduce the number of lozenges.

How to take

Instructions for Using NiQuitin Lozenges

The appropriate lozenge strength depends on individual smoking habits. NiQuitin Minis Mint Lozenges, available in 4 mg and 1.5 mg, are intended for those who smoke over 20 cigarettes daily. Place one lozenge in the mouth and let it dissolve, moving it occasionally from one side to the other until fully dissolved, which takes about 10 minutes. Do not chew or swallow the lozenge whole. Avoid eating or drinking while the lozenge is in your mouth. Behavioral therapy and support can enhance success rates.

For Adults (18 years and older):

Abrupt Smoking Cessation:
- Aim to completely stop smoking while using NiQuitin Minis Mint Lozenges.
- Use a lozenge whenever you feel the urge to smoke.
- Typically, use 8-12 lozenges daily, with a maximum of 15.
- Continue for up to six weeks, then gradually reduce usage. Stop when down to 1-2 lozenges per day.
- To maintain a smoke-free status, use a lozenge when tempted to smoke.
- If using lozenges beyond 9 months, seek advice from a healthcare professional.

Gradual Smoking Cessation:
- For those unable or unwilling to quit abruptly.
- Use a lozenge when you have a strong urge to smoke to reduce cigarette consumption.
- The number of lozenges varies based on individual needs but should not exceed 15 per day.
- If no reduction in smoking is seen after 6 weeks, consult a healthcare professional.
- Aim for complete cessation as soon as possible. Once cigarette use is reduced to a manageable level, follow the "abrupt cessation" schedule.
- If a complete quit attempt hasn't started within 6 months, consult a healthcare professional.

Temporary Abstinence:
- Use a lozenge every 1-2 hours to manage withdrawal symptoms, not exceeding 15 lozenges per day.
- Encourage complete smoking cessation as soon as possible.
- If regular lozenge use continues 6 months after starting treatment without a quit attempt, seek additional help from a healthcare professional.

For Children and Adolescents:
- Adolescents (12-17 years) should follow the abrupt cessation schedule, limiting use to 12 weeks. If longer treatment is needed, or if unable to quit abruptly, consult a healthcare professional.
- Safety and effectiveness in children under 12 have not been evaluated. Ni

Warnings

The risks of using Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) are generally much lower than the dangers of continued smoking. Patients hospitalized for heart attack, severe heart rhythm issues, or stroke who are not stable should try to quit smoking using non-drug methods. If these methods fail, NiQuitin Mint or Original Lozenges may be considered, but due to limited safety data for this group, they should only be started under medical supervision. After hospital discharge, patients can use NRT as usual.

Diabetes Mellitus: Patients with diabetes should closely monitor blood sugar levels when starting NRT, as nicotine can affect carbohydrate metabolism.

Allergic reactions: Risk of angioedema and hives.

A healthcare professional should assess risks and benefits for patients with the following conditions:

Renal and hepatic impairment: Use cautiously in patients with moderate to severe liver or severe kidney impairment, as nicotine clearance may be reduced, increasing adverse effects.

Phaeochromocytoma and uncontrolled hyperthyroidism: Use cautiously as nicotine can release catecholamines.

GI disease: Swallowed nicotine may worsen symptoms in patients with esophagitis, gastric or peptic ulcers. Use oral NRT preparations cautiously. Ulcerative stomatitis has been reported.

Danger in small children: Nicotine doses tolerated by adults and adolescents can be highly toxic and potentially fatal to small children. Keep nicotine products out of children's reach.

Stopping smoking: Quitting smoking may slow the metabolism of certain drugs, leading to increased blood levels.

Transferred dependence: Rare and less harmful than smoking dependence.

Phenylketonuria: NiQuitin Mint or Original Lozenges contain phenylalanine, which may be harmful to people with phenylketonuria.

Sodium content: Each lozenge contains 15 mg of sodium. Consider this for low-sodium diets.
