The active ingredient in the Dermovate Cream is clobetasol propionate, a potent corticosteroid that reduces the itching, redness and pain at the application site. It also suppresses the immune response, whose over-activity can also be a cause of skin irritation. Being a potent corticosteroid, it is only available on prescription.
Is Dermovate Cream suitable for me?
Clobetasol is an effective treatment for a variety of skin conditions, however should be avoided if the following applies:
- If you are allergic to clobetasol or any other ingredients in the formulation
- on infected bacterial, viral or fungal lesions
- on acne or rosacea
- on thinning or fragile skin
