What is the best pain and fever reducer for kids?
Acetaminophen (Tylenol) or ibuprofen (Motrin) are two of the most common. Tylenol is safe to give at any age, but Motrin should not be used in children under six months of age. Give appropriate doses of these medications based on weight.
When is a fever too high for a child?
You might ask if your doctor has specific guidelines on when to call about a fever. In general, call the doctor if your child is: younger than 3 months old with a rectal temperature of 100.4°F (38°C) or higher. 3 months or older with a temperature higher than 102.2°F (39°C)
What is the best pain and fever for children?
As you may have guessed from the descriptions above, acetaminophen is best used for fever, aches and pains, but will not be very helpful if the pain is due to inflammation. Ibuprofen is more helpful for these symptoms when inflammation is the cause.
Is Nurofen or Calpol better for kids?
Paracetamol is generally considered safer, but ibuprofen may be better for some types of pain than paracetamol. Ibuprofen is typically used for teething, toothache and period pain. It's also better for swelling (inflammation), and aches and pains after an injury like a sprain.
