Topicort

Health Benefits
Eczema, psoriasis, and dermatitis are among the inflammatory skin conditions that Topicort is most frequently used to treat. Asthma, allergies, and arthritis are a few other conditions that it can be used to treat.
Topicort functions by calming the immune system and reducing inflammation. Itching, redness, and swelling are just a few symptoms that this can help with. Topicort is offered as an ointment and cream.
Side Effects
Topicort generally has few side effects and is well tolerated. At the application site, dryness, redness, and itching are the most typical adverse reactions. Additionally possible side effects include stretch marks, acne, bronchospasm (wheezing), and skin thinning.
People who have a history of corticosteroid hypersensitivity should not use Topicort. Additionally, those who have a history of infections, diabetes, glaucoma, or osteoporosis should use it with caution. If the potential advantages do not outweigh the potential risks, Topicort should not be used during pregnancy.
Dosage and Preparation
Topicort is offered as an ointment and cream. Two to four times per day, it is applied to the affected area. Unless specifically instructed by a healthcare professional, Topicort shouldn't be used for longer than two weeks at a time.
Only those with valid prescriptions may purchase Topicort cream and ointment. Insurance plans typically cover them.
Interactions
Topicort and other drugs may interact. Inform your doctor of all medications you are taking, including prescription, over-the-counter, illicit, recreational, herbal, nutritional, and dietary ones. Tell them if you take any supplements as well. Keep a list of all your prescriptions on hand, and give it to your physician and pharmacist. Never begin, stop, or alter the dosage of any medication without first consulting your doctor.
Vaccines and Topicort might not work well together. Stay away from those who are ill or infected. Receiving a "live" vaccine while taking Topicort is not advised. During this time, the vaccine might not work as well and you might experience harmful side effects. Measles, mumps, rubella (MMR), polio, rotavirus, typhoid, yellow fever, varicella (chickenpox), and zoster (shingles) are among the live vaccines available.
Mechanism of Action

Pharmacokinetics
Topicort is absorbed into the skin after topical application and changed into its active form, desoximetasone. Desoximetasone inhibits the production of inflammatory mediators by attaching to glucocorticoid receptors in the body. Additionally, it weakens the immune system.
The half-life of Topicort is about three hours. Desoximetasone and its metabolites are excreted in the urine.
