Frequently Asked Questions
How long do the effects of Calpol SixPlus tablets last?
These tablets start working immediately. However, their effects are not very long-lasting. The elimination half-life of paracetamol is less than 3 hours, and its effects last only for 4-6 hours.
Do the Calpol tablets help with a cough?
Although not a primary drug for this purpose, paracetamol has been known to reduce flu and cough symptoms.
Can Calpol be used with an empty stomach?
Yes, it can be used. There is no issue in using it with or without food. You may continue to eat and drink as usual.
What dose of paracetamol can damage the liver?
Luckily, the hepatotoxic dose is very high. A dose higher than 15g or more can damage the liver. This dose is rarely used, even accidentally.
What happens if too many Calpol SixPlus tablets are taken accidentally by the baby?
Paracetamol at extremely high doses is hepatotoxic. So, if the baby takes too many tablets, immediately seek medical attention.
Can Calpol tablets treat infections?
No. These tablets don't work against infections. They are used only against the symptoms of inflammation, fever, and pain. Consult the doctor for antibiotic therapy if you suspect your child has an infection.
Can ibuprofen be used with Calpol?
No. Both Calpol SixPlus and ibuprofen drugs belong to the same class of drugs so taking them together can cause overdosing and more side effects.
