What is Uniroid?

Uniroid is a topical treatment for internal and external haemorrhoids (piles). This medication provides relief from irritation and inflammation of the skin while relieving local pain and discomfort.

How does it work?

This medication is a steroid (corticosteroid) that works by calming your immune system to reduce inflammation and provide pain relief.

Is Uniroid suitable for me?

This treatment can be used by most adults for the relief of piles and haemorrhoids. You should not take this medication without a consultation with a doctor if you have had an allergic reaction to hydrocortisone or any other medicine, if you have a skin infection, are pregnant, trying to get pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you are taking other medications (such as codeine) which might be making you constipated.

Dosage

  • Apply the ointment twice a day (morning and evening) and after each time you empty your bowels, unless your doctor has told you otherwise

Side Effects

  • Blurred vision or other visual disturbances
  • An allergic reaction such as itching, pain or rash around the back passage
  • Thinning of the skin
