How to take

Follow your doctor's instructions when taking Avloclor. Consult your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions. Begin taking Avloclor one week before entering a malaria-prone area, continue during your stay, and for four weeks after leaving.

For adults and children over 14 years: Take two tablets once a week on the same day.

For elderly individuals: Your doctor may recommend blood tests or adjust your dosage.

For children: Do not administer to children under 1 year. Dosage for children over 1 year varies by age:
- Ages 1 to 4: Half a tablet once a week on the same day.
- Ages 5 to 8: One tablet once a week on the same day.
- Ages 9 to 14: One and a half tablets once a week on the same day.

Take tablets after meals, swallowing whole with water.

In case of overdose, contact a doctor or hospital immediately.

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible, then wait 7 days for the next dose, continuing weekly on this new day.

Discontinue Avloclor only four weeks after leaving the malaria area or as directed by your doctor.

Keep all medications out of children's reach and sight. Always read packaging and labels before use.

Warnings

Do not use Avloclor if you are allergic to chloroquine phosphate or any other components of the medication. Exercise caution with Avloclor if you have a history of epilepsy, liver or kidney issues, porphyria, psoriasis, myasthenia gravis, or glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency, as it may harm blood cells. If breastfeeding, seek advice from a doctor or pharmacist before using Avloclor. Although it passes into breast milk, it does not provide malaria protection for your baby, who will still require anti-malarial medication.
