The complete treatment includes a pessary in a foil blister pack and an applicator for vaginal insertion. Unless advised otherwise by your doctor, insert the pessary into the vagina at night to allow it to work while you sleep. Remove the applicator from its packaging. Extend the plunger fully. Take the pessary out of the foil sachet and place it firmly into the applicator. To secure the pessary in the applicator, gently squeeze the sides of the holder. The pessary should be inserted about 1cm into the holder. Carefully insert the applicator as far as comfortable into the vagina, preferably while lying on your back with knees bent. Hold the applicator steady and slowly press the plunger until it stops, releasing the pessary into the vagina. Remove the applicator and dispose of it safely, keeping it out of children's reach. Do not flush the applicator down the toilet. If there is no improvement after seven days, consult your doctor as another treatment course may be needed. Since the pessary dissolves in the vagina, using a panty liner may be helpful due to the possibility of a slight white residue. This does not indicate treatment failure. However, if you see undissolved pieces of the pessary, consult your doctor or pharmacist, as the treatment may not have been effective.
