What is Clotrimazole?

Clotrimazole is a topical antifungal medication used to treat a range of fungal skin conditions. It can be used to treat thrush, jock itch, ringworm, athlete's foot, nappy rash and sweat rash.

How does it work?

It works by creating holes in the membrane of the fungal cells which kills the fungus and prevents any further infection. It is a fast-acting treatment that should only be used externally.

Is Clotrimazole suitable for me?

Clotrimazole is suitable for adults, children and infants but not during pregnancy or for those breastfeeding. If you suffer from itching or redness, ask your doctor if Clotrimazole is right for you.

How long can I use Clotrimazole?

Clotrimazole is an antifungal medication that is used to treat fungal infections of the skin. It is available as a cream, lotion, and troche (lozenge). The length of treatment depends on the type of infection being treated. For jock itch and athlete's foot, the usual duration of treatment is 1-2 weeks. For ringworm, the usual duration of treatment is 2-4 weeks. If the infection does not improve after 4 weeks of treatment with clotrimazole, you should see your doctor.

How do you use Clotrimazole?

Clotrimazole is usually applied to the skin twice a day. It should be applied to the affected area and surrounding skin for 1-2 weeks. For athlete's foot, you should also apply clotrimazole between the toes. For jock itch, you should also apply it to the groin area. Make sure to wash your hands after applying clotrimazole.

The active ingredient in Clotrimazole is clotrimazole. The inactive ingredients include: petrolatum, cetyl alcohol, stearyl alcohol, polysorbate 60, sorbitan monostearate, isopropyl myristate, mineral oil, and water.

Who can use Clotrimazole?

Clotrimazole is for external use only. Do not use it on broken skin. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you should talk to your doctor before using clotrimazole.
