UroXatral

UroXatral Welzo

UroXatral can increase urine flow and lessen how frequently you need to urinate throughout the day. This could lower your risk of developing urinary retention, a condition that prevents you from emptying your bladder.Alfuzosin can also aid in the relief of some BPH symptoms, such as the inability to start the flow of urine, a weak stream, and a frequent or urgent need to urinate.

Side Effects

If you experience any of the following symptoms of an allergic reaction, seek immediate medical attention: hives; trouble breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.

If you experience any of the following:

a feeling of impending faintness or lightheadedness;

your feet or ankles are swollen;

breathing difficulties; or

chest pain

If you have: Stop taking UroXatral and contact your physician right away.

There may be additional side effects; this is not a comprehensive list. For medical advice about side effects, contact your doctor.

Dosage

Your medical condition and treatment response will determine how much UroXatral you need to take. Carefully adhere to your doctor's instructions.

10 mg once daily is typically the starting dose. If this is insufficient to sufficiently relieve your symptoms, your doctor may increase the dosage to 20 mg once daily.

Every day, the same time should be used to take UroXatral.

How to take tablets of UroXatral extended-release:

Along with a full glass of water, swallow the tablet whole. Never chew, split, or crush it.

You can dissolve a tablet in one ounce (30 milliliters) of water if you have trouble swallowing it whole. This will create a liquid that is simple to swallow. Immediately consume the entire mixture. Add a further 2 ounces (60 milliliters) after that.

Interactions

There could be drug interactions with uroxatral. All prescription and over-the-counter medications you use should be disclosed to your doctor. Tell your doctor right away if you take:

warfarin (Jantoven, Coumadin);

a "water pill" or diuretic;

insulin or diabetes pills taken orally;

drugs that induce drowsiness ordizziness; or

erythromycin, telithromycin, and clarithromycin are examples of antibiotics.

Many other medications may have an impact on Uroxatral; this list is not exhaustive. This includes vitamins, herbal products, prescription and over-the-counter medications. Give every medical professional who treats you a list of all the medications you take.

Mechanism of Action

The prostate and bladder neck's smooth muscles are relaxed by the action of UroXatral. This aids in enhancing urine flow and alleviating some BPH symptoms, such as the need to urinate frequently or urgently and difficulty starting the flow of urine.

Alfuzosin may also lessen your chance of developing urinary retention (the inability to completely empty your bladder) and the requirement for BPH surgery.

Alfuzosin is a member of the alpha-blocker drug subclass. Drugs that function similarly are referred to as a class of drugs. They frequently treat conditions that are similar and share a similar chemical structure.

Pharmacokinetics

Following oral administration, alfuzosin is rapidly absorbed, reaching its peak plasma concentrations in 1 to 2 hours. A 10 mg immediate release tablet has a mean bioavailability of 64%.

Plasma proteins are 96% bound to alfuzosin. Following intravenous administration, there is an apparent distribution volume of 21 L.

Metabolism and Excretion

CYP3A4 extensively metabolizes alfuzosin in the liver by oxidizing it to its active metabolite, 6-hydroxyalfuzosin, as well as by N-dealkylating it and then conjugating it. Alfuzosin's pharmacologic activity is comparable to that of 6-hydroxyalfuzosin. Most of the time, 6-hydroxyalfuzosin and alfuzosin are excreted in the urine.

Half-life

Following multiple doses of 10 mg alfuzosin extended-release tablets, the mean elimination half-lives of alfuzosin and 6-hydroxyalfuzosin are 11.6 hours and 12.4 hours, respectively.
