The active ingredient in Nicorette 2 mg Gum is 2 mg Nicotine

The active ingredient in Nicorette 4 mg Gum is 4 mg Nicotine

Other ingredients are: Chewing gum base, sorbitol, sodium carbonate, flavourings, polacrilin, glycerol and talc.

The chewing gum base contains butylated hydroxyl toluene (E321), an anti-oxidant.

The 2 mg gum also contains sodium bicarbonate.

The 4 mg gum also contains quinoline yellow (E104) (yellow colour).

The gum does not contain sugar (sucrose) or animal products.

As with any product, there are always side effects. In the case of Nicorette Gum, if you experience any of the following symptoms, you should stop taking the gum immediatley and contact a doctor:- fast heart rate/beat,- abnormal beating of the heart, - chest palpitations, - shortness of breath, - seizures (fits), - or allergic reactions (swelling of the face, mouth, lips, throat and tongue, itching of the skin, swelling of the skin, ulceration and inflammation of the lining of the mouth, difficulty in breathing and dizziness)

Q: Is Nicorette gum healthy?

While Nicorette gum is a much better alternative to smoking cigarettes, it does come with some potential problems.- The gum contains butylated hydroxytoluene (E321), which may cause local skin reactions (contact dermatitis) or irritation to the eyes and mucous membranes.- Each stick of gum contains sorbitol which is a source of fructose. If you have fructose intolerance, this gum may not be suitable for you.Also, if you overuse the Nicorette gum, you may experience uncomfortable symptoms.

Q: How long should you chew Nicorette gum?

It is recommended that you chew the gum for up to 30 minutes or until the flavour is gone. You can also chew the gum until the urge to smoke has gone or reduced.

Q: How many cigarettes is 4mg of nicotine gum?

Nicorette gum comes in two strengths. If you smoke 20 cigarettes or more per day, you should use the 4 mg gum as required to relieve cravings.
