L-tyrosine may enhance cognitive performance under stress, according to research.During a demanding exercise program, a group of Navy Seal trainees' mental performance was found to be enhanced by L-tyrosine in one study.
L-tyrosine'seffectson cognitive performance in soldiers who had experienced cold stress were the subject of another study.Prior to the soldiers being exposed to the cold stressor, they received either L-tyrosine or a placebo. In comparison to those who received a placebo, the results showed that those who received L-tyrosine performed better on tests of working memory and attention.
In a third study, L-tyrosine'seffectson cognitive performance in healthy adults under acute stress were examined (3). L-tyrosine or a placebo was administered to the participants before they underwent a stressful task. In comparison to those who received a placebo, the results showed that those who received L-tyrosine performed better on tests of working memory and reaction time.
These studies imply that L-tyrosine may enhance cognitive performance under stress. However, additional study is required to validate these results.
