You should also not take this medication if you have a condition that causes fits (seizures), such as epilepsy or if you have an eating disorder, if you have bipolar disorder, severe liver problems, if you have a brain tumour, if you are a heavy drinker or have been taking an antidepressant or anti-anxiety medication. You should speak to your doctor before beginning this medication.

Dosage
Commonly Used Dosage Guidelines for Zyban.
For week one of treatment
- On days 1-6, take one tablet (150mg) once a day.
- On day 7, increase your dose to one tablet, twice a day (at least 8 hours apart) and not near bedtime.
For week two
- Continue taking one tablet, twice a day. You should also stop smoking this week.
For weeks 3 to 9
- Continue taking one tablet, twice a day for up to 9 weeks.
