Take this medication by mouth, usually twice daily, with or without food and as prescribed by your doctor. You should take this medication with food to avoid nausea. Try to take this medication every day at the same time.
Dosage and Preparation
Both an oral solution and a tablet form of Valcyte are offered. Regular dosage is two or three times per day, with or without food. Do not crush or chew the tablets; they must be taken whole.
Shake the bottle of the oral solution thoroughly before using it. Utilizing a measuring cup or dosing syringe, precisely measure the oral solution.
Interactions
If you take vitamins, herbs, or other medications, Valcyte may interact with them. When a substance modifies how a drug functions, there is an interaction. This could be harmful or stop the medication from working properly.

Pharmacokinetics
The gastrointestinal tract quickly and completely absorbs Valcyte. It is broken down in the liver and eliminated through the urine.
Valcyte has a half-life of around 8 hours.
Storage and stability
Valcyte needs to be kept between 20°C and 25°C, at room temperature. Keep in a container that is securely closed. Avoid freezing.
At room temperature, Valcyte oral solution is stable for 90 days. Valcyte oral solution must be used within 12 hours of mixing. After 12 hours, dispose of any leftovers.
At room temperature, Valcyte tablets remain stable for 30 days.
