Description

Airomir Inhaler for Asthma & Breathing Problems

Asthma and Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) are breathing conditions that primarily affect the lungs and can cause a range of breathing difficulties. Asthma often occurs after exposure to a trigger, however, it can happen randomly. Triggers may include common allergies to pollen or animal dander, infections, environmental changes or from exercise.

The Airomir inhaler can be used if you have asthma or any inflammatory condition of the lungs involving breathing difficulty. This is a prescription inhaler that contains a short-acting drug designed to give quick relief, starting as early as 5 minutes and lasting as long as 6 hours.

What is an Airomir Inhaler and how does it work?

The active ingredient, salbutamol, opens up the airways which reduces the symptoms of chest tightness, wheezing and coughing while easing breathing. Salbutamol is a medication called a short-acting beta-2-agonist that will relax the muscles in the airways causing them to expand.

This medicine has a short and quick effect that can last between 4 to 6 hours.

This is a reliever inhaler suitable for acute asthma attacks. A reliever inhaler should be kept with you all the time to be used whenever needed. It is also very effective if you are allergic to pollens, dust, animals etc. You can use it 10-15 minutes before expected exposure to these allergens.

Is an Airomir Inhaler right for me?

If you are diagnosed with asthma, COPD or other breathing condition, you may be prescribed an Airomir Inhaler by a doctor or healthcare professional. However, it may not be suitable for you if you have the following:

How to use an Airomir Inhaler?

Always use an Airomir Inhaler exactly as prescribed by your doctor or advised by the pharmacist. The recommended starting dose for adults is one puff (100mcg) to relieve asthma symptoms, however, in presence of other factors, this may be increased or decreased accordingly as per the prescriber's clinical judgement.

For adults:

  • To relieve asthma - one puff (100 micrograms) that may be increased to two puffs (200mcg)
  • To prevent symptoms of asthma - two puffs (200 micrograms) that may be increased to four puffs (400mcg)
  • The maximum dose is 8 puffs of the 100mcg (800 micrograms) in 24 hours

Instructions:

  • Start to breathe as slowly as possible just before using your inhaler
  • Stand or sit upright when using
  • Remove the dust cap and shake the inhaler 3 to 5 times and hold the inhaler upright with your thumb on the base,
  • Keep holding the inhaler upright between your forefinger and thumb. Press down until you hear a click and let the inhaler click back again. This releases a dose. Important: only click down once.
  • Breathe out normally and place the mouthpiece in your mouth between your teeth and close your lips, do not bite it
  • Take a strong deep breathe in through your mouth
  • Take the inhaler out of your mouth, hold your breath for at least 5 seconds, then breathe out normally

Do not use your inhaler more often than the doctor told you to.
