What is Elleste Duet?

Elleste Duet is a Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) medication that contains two female hormones. This medicine can be used to relieve post-menopausal symptoms associated with the reduced levels of oestrogen that occur during menopause. It can also be used to prevent osteoporosis which may also occur after menopause. 

How does it work?

Elleste Duet can be used to relieve symptoms of menopause by supplementing the levels of the hormones that have naturally been lowered.  

Is Elleste Duet suitable for me?

If you suffer from very intense hot flushes, night sweats, mood swings, vaginal dryness and a reduced sex drive you could be prescribed Elleste Duet. Ask your doctor if Elleste Duet is right for you.

Side Effects

All medications can cause potential side effects, below we have listed some potential side effects, however, these do not always occur.

  • Headache
  • Breast pain, tenderness or enlargement
  • Painful or heavy periods
  • Problems with your menstrual cycle
  • Feeling down or anxious
  • Mood changes
  • Changes in sex drive
  • Feeling sick, dizzy or weak
  • Difficulty sleeping
  • Pain in the back or extremities
  • Spasms (contractions) of the womb
  • Bloating, diarrhoea or indigestion
  • Stomach cramps
  • Acne, rashes, itchiness or dry skin
  • Vaginal discharge or break-through bleeding
  • Vaginal infection
  • Excessive thickening of the lining of the womb
  • Pain
  • Swelling of the ankles, feet or fingers
  • Weight gain

Dosage

Commonly Used Dosage Guidelines for Elleste Duet.

If you are still having regular periods, begin taking the tablets on the first day of bleeding. If you are not having regular periods, you can start straight away. The medication follows a 28-day cycle that you continue taking everyday. Take a tablet at the same time each day. Swallow whole with a glass of water.
