The active ingredients in these suppositories are bismuth oxide, zinc oxide, balsam Peru, kaolin light, bismuth subgallate, kaolin light, hard fat, Miglyol 812, hydrocortisone etc. These ingredients provide a soothing effect at the local site and relieve pain, discomfort and itching associated with haemorrhoids. They also restrict bacterial growth.
Are the Anusol suppositories suitable for me?
These suppositories may be suitable for you if you have piles (haemorrhoids), rectal pain or itching and discomfort in the rectum anal fissures. This medicine may also be suitable for you if you can't take pills due to excessive vomiting or if the taste of the medicine is too repulsive. The suppository needed to be kept for at least 15-20 minutes. If it comes out automatically, it was not pushed high enough and will need to be inserted again.
How many Anusol suppositories can I use daily?
These are not to be used for children younger than 12 years. For 12 years or older, only one suppository per day is recommended. However, the advice of a doctor is paramount.
On which side do I need to lay for easy insertion of the suppository?
Suppositories can be inserted on any side. But lying on the left side will allow you to take advantage of the natural angle of the rectum for easy insertion.
How long does an Anusol suppository take to work?
The suppositories work quickly after insertion. They need 10-45 minutes to work. So, it is recommended that you apply it near the toilet while inserting it.
How do the suppositories influence the stools?
The suppositories attract the water towards the stools. Hence, they soften the stool and facilitate its movements.
Can a suppository break the hard stools?
Yes. The glycerin-containing suppositories can soften the hard stools and break them.
